Sr. Technical Sales Engineer, US - greater Chicago area, IL  (commutable to our Northfield office)

Sound Intelligence' US entity in Chicago, Illinois and is looking to grow the US team with a Sr. Technical Sales Engineer in the Chicago, IL area. This role will be a key player in achieving our ambitious growth plans, by supporting the territories’ customers and partners.

What you’ll do here …

  • Take the lead on technical customer/partner projects through resolution
  • Innovate new and progressive technical solutions and train/mentor other team members
  • Provide the highest quality technical pre- and post-sales engineering
  • Provide support for Sound Intelligence products to end-customers and partners
  • Prepare technical sales support materials
  • Develop system design recommendations and RFPs and RFIs
  • Coordinate on-site proof of concept and trial installations
  • Present training seminars on-site and through webinars
  • Provide in-depth troubleshooting and solutions
  • Provide feedback to R&D team on product improvements
  • Ensure Customer Cases are documented thoroughly
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

What we are looking for …

  • Experience in the field of technical service and support
  • Professional and friendly phone etiquette with excellent customer service skills
  • Proven reputation of positive customer interaction
  • Ability to think outside the box to create the best solution
  • Someone who enjoys training and mentoring others
  • Solid technical writing skills especially white paper, manuals, and instructions
  • Design documentation skills of schematics, flow charts, topologies, and metrics
  • Resourceful, analytical, flexible, organized, great communicator and listener

What You’ll Need …

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Networking Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent industry training
  • 7+ years of experience as a pre-sales or technical solution sales working in networking, integration, and/or 10+ years’ experience in video surveillance systems, security cameras and IP based video surveillance technology, both software and hardware
  • Proficiency and experience using diagraming tools such as Visio or CAD and be a power user of MS Office applications including Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills, able to diagnose, reproduce and analyze issues to solve problems effectively and efficiently, by logical deduction and thorough process of elimination
  • Exceptional customer service skills including detailed follow-through and professionalism in written, speaking and telephone communications
  • Must maintain a professional appearance and have a positive mental attitude
  • Convictions to the principals of honesty, dependability, responsibility, and a motivated self-starter

Valued, But Not Required …

  • Strong presentation skills
  • Knowledge of audio systems and/or sound detection
  • Experience with IP Video and Video Management Systems Installation and/or configurations with video analytic solutions
  • Strong networking knowledge (TCP/IP, Routers, Switches, VPN’s, Cybersecurity, etc.)
  • Curious by nature with a natural instinct to want to problem solve and figure out the best solution
  • Programming and application design
  • Use of CRM tools and/or help desk applications

Location, Travel and Physical demands:

  • Based in the greater Chicago, IL area (commutable to our Northfield office)
  • 25-50% travel nationwide
  • Occasional international travel
  • Physical Demands: Employee is occasionally required to lift 20-50 lbs.
